Volunteering

We are the peak body representing 60 community based, not-for-profit agencies, staffed by over 3,00 volunteers and in excess of 200 paid workers. Our agencies provide free services to over 300,000 people every year.

Why we need you

We rely on volunteers because there is no way we could provide the services and support required by our clients on the funding received. They also bring their own skills, knowledge and life experience to the work they do.

We help those most in need

Our main work is with the vulnerable and disadvantaged, including those on welfare payments, single parents, newly arrived, refugees, those with mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues and those experiencing family violence and family breakdown.

Emergency relief

Many of our agencies can provide emergency relief, both financial and practical, by providing food, food vouchers, travel cards, petrol vouchers, assistance with household bills, rent, pharmaceutical supplies and telephone bills. One voice for many

We also liaise with all tiers of government and other peak bodies and conduct training and research.

Doing good is good for you

1 in 4 people in Australia do some volunteer work. We provide nationally accredited training which equips you for the important work you will do with the community and opens pathways to further education and career choices.

A range of options

Volunteer opportunities include community support workers, administration volunteers, drivers, and Committees of Management. Click here for further information.
